The combo is always been an integral part of our lives which attracts us to either grab them or experience them. Similar combo details I received when I was working at my office and I expressed my plans for Gran Canaria to colleagues in Beasain. Mikel suddenly came to me and said, “If you are traveling to Gran Canaria, then you must experience the dunes of Maspalomas. At that time I wondered why he was insisting on this so much.
Now after I completed Scuba diving in Puerto de Mogan, I was interested more in exploring another part of the island, but where to go is the bigger question which dances all around me.
Suddenly the words of Mikel struck me, I started googling the availability of a bus towards Maspalomas, which is the destination for one of the most beautiful and biggest beaches of Gran Canaria.
So I picked up the bus after waiting for around 30 minutes. The pathway was full of beaches. I mean every 10 minutes of the ride there was a new beach with its extremities meeting the seashore towards its horizon. I cannot resist but to capture all.
Soon the bus arrived at the stop of Maspalomas, which is like a place seen in movies where the hero and heroine always travel and sing songs. The aura all around was too romantic, but I just had myself, so ignoring the essence of this aura, I proceeded further to explore more.
Soon I was at the entry of the vast beach, the biggest beach I have seen till now in this short span of time. I was literally not able to grasp the ends of the beach. But to explore you have to put forward your first step, so I started my walk at the beach.
On one side there was a huge Atlantic, and on the other side a relaxing beach, and I was walking in the boundary created between these two different worlds.
The happy faces full of amusement just fill up my mood of exploration. But wait, there was something ahead of me waiting. The look was just fabulous and my eyes didn’t want to blink for a second.
It was the huge dunes of sand. The big chunk of desert is at the beach of Playa de Ingles.
I couldn’t control myself and moved towards the high dunes.
At the start, it was very tough to walk, as my feet were sinking in the soft sand. But after a couple of moments, my body and feet accommodated the behavior and supported my smooth walk.
There was the highest dune far away, the tired mind was saying just to watch it from here, but my exploration-filled heart said to just go and feel, as this moment may never come back. So I continued my climb towards the top.
When I reached the top, it was like the experience of climbing Mount Txindoki. There was a light gust of wind everywhere which was carrying the sand from one place to another, and if you just watched close enough toward the surface of the sand, the movement would make you fascinated by how these small particles had their own way of living, sometimes they are here, but with the gust of wind as their better half, took them to some other places.
With all these amusing thoughts of happiness, I continued my walk in the desert of Maspalomas and moved to go ahead for my hostel, which was at the other part of the island, named Agaete.
Soon I got the route, thanks to Google Maps. But this route was not direct. I have to take the bus from Maspalomas to Las Palmas, the biggest city on the island. And then to Guia and then ten to Agaete.
The reason for booking the hostel at Agaete was, that tomorrow I have to take a ferry to Tenerife island to catch my flight back to Bilbao. So I started my long bus trip.
With the first bus, I reached Las Palmas, and in my opinion, this place was heaven, not nature-wise but with the happiest crowd. This was the city which might look prettiest in its nightlife. But my bad, I didn’t have much information earlier about this experience, nor was it on my itinerary.
Soon I took another bus to Guia and with the view of the countryside and the waves striking stone carved shore, I proceeded. The view was the happiest one, as today I had experienced another dimension with scuba, and exploring the combos of beaches with desert, and now these beautiful bright natural views of blue sky with blue Atlantic.
Soon I reached the small bus stop of Guia, which was quite small. The people were quite happy with their place and their life.
After waiting 15 minutes, my bus to Agatete arrived and the flow of the beautiful view again started. The sun was slowly going down towards meeting its destination on the horizon.
At 7 pm, I reached Agaete. It was a small town or I can say village, but in a developed country like Spain, the villages are also quite advanced.
Anyhow, I started searching for my hostel, which was a tough activity, as there were no boards nearby. So as checked the address on the booking document and started checking the house numbers. Soon I saw a door with the house number and the name of the hostel was mentioned but in a small font, that’s why I missed it. I knocked and a lady came out to greet me and showed me the whole area.
After having some rest, I thought of starting an exploration of Agaete, where I reached a nearby bar, where I met many happy people like Juanra, Valeria, and Sharmila. Yes, you heard it right, I met with an Indian-origin lady here who is running a yoga school here in Agaete.
After all this happy, enjoyable, and dancing night, I reached the hostel at 3 am in the morning to take a nap.
The next day I again started my exploration, but this time, to catch my cruise ship. After having an energetic breakfast and walking at the port of Agaete for some time, I boarded the beautiful cruise with my next 3-hour journey towards Tenerife.
How fast these happy times end and making a bigger impression of living and exploring life while exploring the inner self was the point of thought during the whole cruise trip.
Soon I reached Tenerife’s Santa Cruz port, and this place was much more developed than I thought. The skyscrapers and the trams were all making this a properly facilitated and developed city.
As I didn’t have much time to explore this island, so I took a walk to the bus stop which could drive me to the airport.
The whole exploration of these 3 days created a mark on my soul and made me filled with a purpose of life, a purpose to explore, and a purpose to extract happiness from every part of the world.
