Connaught Place, or CP as people like to call it, is the main center of Delhi. It is a place that every person in Delhi, from young people to grown-ups, has gone to at least once. Connaught Place has many things for everyone, whether you want to shop, eat, go out with family, or just spend time with friends. I have lived in Delhi for 13 years, and my first time visiting CP was in 2009. Since that time, CP has become a favorite place for me whenever I want to feel the lively vibe of the city.
The Best Way to Reach Connaught Place
The simplest and most easy way to reach Connaught Place is by the Delhi Metro. Rajiv Chowk Metro Station connects the Blue and Yellow lines and takes you straight to the center of CP. Get ready for the crowd, especially in busy times, but as soon as you go out, the energy of CP hits you. You will first see the famous Central Park, with its big Indian flag waving in the wind. It makes you feel proud every time.
Central Park: The Heart of Connaught Place
In the middle of CP, there is Central Park, a green place surrounded by a busy city. In my early days in Delhi, I would see young couples, or “lovebirds” as we called them, sitting in the park and having a good time together. Over the years, the crowd has changed, but the park is still a favorite place for people who want to relax or just see what is happening around them.
The Unique Circular Design
One thing that makes Connaught Place special is its round shape. The whole area is made in circles, with the inner circle being the most well-known. It has nice white pillars that make the place look special. Walking under these big arches feels nice. The entire area is full of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars. These are not just any shops—they are popular, branded stores where you can find everything from the latest clothes to good food..

If you like shopping, CP will make you happy. From fancy brands to fun street markets, there is something for everyone. Janpath is very close to the inner circle and is a great place to find cheap clothes, accessories, and souvenirs. You can bargain as much as you want!
Cafes, Bars, and Fine Dining
Connaught Place is a great place for food lovers. The area has many cafes and restaurants that serve all kinds of food, from street food to nice international dishes. Wenger’s is a well-known bakery that has been providing tasty pastries and snacks for many years. You can also find bars and lounges for a fun night out with your friends. If you want to have a quick coffee or a nice meal, CP has everything.
Street Photography Heaven
As a street photographer, Connaught Place is one of my best places in Delhi. Something is always going on here. People from different backgrounds meet in CP. Some people are busy shopping, some are just spending time, and some are there to meet friends. When you walk around the galleries with pillars, you can see many different expressions, feelings, and faces. It is a great place for photographers because every visit is different.
Best Time to Visit Connaught Place
The good time to go to CP is in the cooler months, from October to March when the weather is nice. Evenings are very lively, with street performers, bright shops, and many people making the area feel full of life. If you want a peaceful visit, early mornings are a nice time to look around without the crowd.
Final Thoughts
Connaught Place is not only a place to shop; it is also a part of Delhi’s culture and history.
